Patient Ascertainment Service

The greatest determinate for the success of a study is enrolling the right study participants and correctly setting baseline levels of symptom severity.

Approximately 40% of subjects enrolled in typical CNS trials should have been excluded - more in cases of trials with difficult diagnoses.

Remote raters are "blind" to enrollment criteria unfamiliar within patients, free of expectations or influence of site relationships and can enroll the right subjects and accurately assess their baseline symptom severity level.

If MedAvante’s centralized expert rater team makes the enrollment decision, either through administering the assessment or reviewing the sites’ assessments, they deliver precisely the subject population specified in the protocol and maintain that correct population throughout the trial.

In two studies in which MedAvante's screening scores were compared to the site screening scores of the same subject, MedAvante, blind to enrollment criteria, showed a normal distribution. In another study in which sites served as "gate keepers," meaning their screening assessment was used to qualify enrollment, not only did MedAvante exclude a significant portion of the subjects but demonstrated that they had excluded the right patients.
